Charles Shelby to Lizzie Shelby
Charles Thomas Burgess “Charlie” Shelby is the son of Thomas and Grace Shelby, as well as being the stepson of Thomas’ second wife, Lizzie Shelby. He was also the half-brother of Ruby Shelby.
Biography[]
Charles Thomas Burgess Shelby was born in 1922, Birmingham, to Thomas and Grace Shelby. He was conceived during a one-night stand, while his mother was married to Clive MacMillan. When Clive discovered that Grace was pregnant by Thomas, he committed suicide. After his death, Thomas bought Arrow House and moved there with Grace, to start a new life.

Trivia[]
- It has not been confirmed, but Charles was likely named after Thomas’ close family friend and uncle figure, Charlie Strong. He also could’ve been named after Charlie Chaplin, as Thomas and Grace met him on a date, the night Charles was conceived.
- Despite the fact Lizzie is Charles’ stepmother, she has raised him since he was four years old and he refers to her as his mother.
