Curly is a stable boy and ferryman who works in Charlie Strong's Yard. Thomas Shelby tells May Carleton that Curly's the best horseman in England.

Background[]

Curly is what is known in the language of the time, "simple minded." Despite this, he has a deep knowledge and skill with horses. He walks with a trot, indicating a previous leg injury. Curly is a Gypsy and it's implied that he and Charlie Strong are related.

Series 1 · 1919[]

Curly warns Thomas that his newly bought horse has been cursed and will soon die. He is very distressed by the animal's pain.

Series 2 · 1922[]

Thomas calls Curly the best horseman in England while he shows May Carleton his new horse, Grace’s Secret.

Series 3 · 1924[]

Curly tells Thomas that killing a stag is bad luck in Episode 4.
