Charles Spencer “Charlie” Chaplin is an English comic actor, filmmaker and composer, who rose to fame in the era of silent film. He appeared in Episode 2.5 and was portrayed by Robert Elkin.
Backstory[]
Charles was born on 16 April 1889 and according to Thomas Shelby, he was born at Black Patch, a Gypsy camp in Birmingham. Charles is a Romany Gypsy, but hides it from the public. Thomas knew Charles through his bodyguard, Wag MacDonald, who is also Romany Gypsy.
Series 2 • 1921[]
Thomas takes Grace Shelby to meet Charles at an event, wanting to impress her. He introduces her and they have a conversation. During the same day, Thomas and Grace conceive their son, Charles Shelby. Although it isn’t confirmed, they likely named their son after Charles.
Series 6 • 1933[]
In Black Day, a children’s Christmas party is hosted at Thomas’ house, Arrow House. Thomas’ second wife, Lizzie Shelby, tells the children that Charles has sent them a projector from Hollywood.
